It was exciting last month to see the “number of home sales” margin shrink a bit when comparing month after month over 2015. But it’s even more exciting to see the biggest change, over last year, this month. Single family home sales in September 2016 was 8% higher than September 2015!
Red Deer has witnessed slower home sales in 2016 than it did in 2015. It was to be expected considering the economic slow down experienced so it’s nice to see changes in a positive direction. I don’t want to get too excited about the 8% increase in September but it might warrant some excitement considering the only other month with higher sales this year was May with only a 1% increase. Every other month this year home sales have been lower than 2015. A few months were only singe digit negative numbers but some months where as low as 20% and 25% over the same months last year.
I mentioned last month how interesting it will be to see what happens with sales in Red Deer during September and it was. After seeing positive changes in August and September it will be very interesting to watch October home sales numbers.
