Canadian home sales improve in January 2019

Statistics released today by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) show national home sales in January 2019. Highlights: • National home sales rose 3.6% between December 2018 and January 2019. • Actual (not seasonally adjusted) activity was down by 4% from one year ago. • The number of newly listed homes in the month of January. • The MLS® Home Price Index (HPI) rose 0.8% year-over-year (yoy) in January. • The national average sales price by 5.5% yoy in January. Home sales by Canadian MLS® Systems climbed 3.6% in January 2019 compared to December 2018. —- Canada’s residential market improves in January 2019 Ottawa, Ontario, February 15, 2019 – Statistics, published today by The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), shows that residential sales rose month-over-month nationally in January 2019, but remain below levels recorded l last year at this date. Highlights: • Domestic residential sales increased 3.6% from December 2018 to January 2019. • Real sales (unadjusted) fell 4% from the previous year. • The number of newly registered homes rose 0.1% month-over-month in January. • The MLS® Property Price Index (MLS® IPP) rose 0.8% year-over-year. • The average selling price in Canada decreased 5.5% year-over-year in January.
