Central Alberta real estate prices less exciting the second part of 2018

There was some excitement in real estate for 4 of the first 6 months of 2018. In Central Ab were witnessed a 4-month trend of the average sale price increasing. From March through June average sale prices increased each month and it was exciting to watch, but in July they dipped and they’ve only trended flat since then.

The price trend was exciting because we hadn’t seen anything similar since the first half of 2013. That’s a long wait to see an upward price in a local real estate market.

However, a trend upward doesn’t have to increase continually to be a positive sign. Any trend through the year can push a market one way or another and a positive trend in 2018 after waiting 5 years could mean we’ll see more good news as we pull out of the recession.
